It All Starts In Here

Why Travel With Us

Safety has always been our first priority. We are a fully licensed travel operator, with the approvals needed to run overland journeys in Western China, including remote and high-altitude regions.

Most of our team grew up in Sichuan, and we’ve spent years exploring these routes ourselves — not just designing them, but actually driving them, adjusting them, and improving them over time. At the same time, having lived abroad, we understand what international travelers often find challenging here, and how to make the experience smoother and more comfortable.

That’s why our trips feel flexible and well-paced, even in places where travel can be unpredictable. We take care of the planning and the small adjustments along the way, so you can focus on the journey itself and experience Western China in a way that feels natural and real.

About Us

Our Belief

We believe travel should be built on real understanding. A meaningful journey comes from thoughtful design, local insight, and experiences that feel genuine rather than staged.

I’ve always believed that the most memorable parts of travel are usually the smallest ones. A late-night conversation in a local restaurant. A neighborhood market. Sitting in a teahouse for hours watching city life pass by. After living in Latin America for many years, I became fascinated by how culture shapes the way people experience the world. That’s something I try to bring into Panda Roaming — journeys that feel less rushed, more connected, and more human. I care a lot about atmosphere, details, and helping travelers experience China beyond stereotypes.

There are guides who know the routes, and then there are those who know the land. I belong to the latter.
For 24 years, I have specialized in designing custom journeys across Sichuan, Yunnan, and the Tibetan Plateau. My expertise isn’t just geographic — it’s about understanding how to weave altitude, culture, season, and schedule into an itinerary that feels effortless yet deeply immersive.
I have led countless bespoke trips for international travelers, each one shaped by my intimate knowledge of the region’s hidden monasteries, remote valleys, and the small, unforgettable moments that don’t appear in any guidebook.
I bridge the gap between meticulous trip design and on-the-ground reality — anticipating challenges before they arise, and adjusting the journey in real time so that every day unfolds naturally.
My philosophy is simple: a great trip doesn’t happen by accident — it’s designed, refined, and brought to life with experience.

I’m usually the person who says, ‘What happens if we keep driving a little further?’ I love exploring routes that are less traveled — hidden valleys, mountain roads, grasslands, and wildlife areas that don’t appear in most travel guides. I’m especially obsessed with wildlife and ecosystems in Western China, from vultures and foxes to blue sheep and snow leopard habitats. For me, the best routes are the ones that still feel wild.

The plateau changes every season, every light condition, and sometimes even every hour — that’s one reason I never get tired of Tibet and Xinjiang. I spend most of my time working in western routes, especially around Tibetan regions and remote landscapes. I’m deeply interested in local culture, monasteries, nomadic life, and the stories behind these places that many travelers never notice at first glance. I prefer slower journeys, fewer crowds, and experiences that feel real.

I enjoy spending time talking with travelers — listening to their stories, understanding what kind of experiences they’re looking for, and hearing their thoughts after the journey. A big part of my work is helping turn those conversations and feedback into better travel experiences, whether that means improving routes, adjusting small details, or making our information clearer and more useful for future travelers. Having lived in Australia for several years, I understand many of the expectations and concerns international travelers may have before visiting China for the first time. I think good travel experiences often start long before the trip itself — sometimes simply through honest communication and understanding what people truly want from a journey.
