Walk Mt. Emei, Not Just Visit It

Mt. Emei is often experienced through sightseeing buses, cable cars and famous viewpoints. This journey takes a different approach — following the mountain on foot through forests, stone paths, temples and changing elevations.

Walking allows the mountain to unfold gradually, turning the route itself into part of the experience rather than simply moving between attractions.

Earn the View at 3,077 m

For stronger hikers, take on a full-day ascent from Qingyin Pavilion through Hongchunping, Xianfeng Temple, Xixiangchi and Leidongping before reaching the Golden Summit at 3,077 m.

The challenging route takes approximately 10–12 hours, moving from forest valleys toward the mountain’s highest and most iconic landscape.

Choose How Hard You Want to Hike

You do not need to be an endurance hiker to experience this journey. The summit day can be adapted with light walking, sightseeing buses and cable cars, allowing travelers with different fitness levels to experience Mt. Emei at a comfortable pace.

The route is private and flexible, so the mountain can be experienced around your ability rather than forcing every traveler into the same hiking plan.

Into Emei’s Wilder Side

Beyond the summit, continue through Qingyin Pavilion, One-Line Sky and the Ecological Monkey Zone, walking through dense forests and quieter ecological areas where Tibetan macaques and other native wildlife may be encountered along the way.

Changing elevation brings different vegetation, forest environments and landscapes, revealing a side of Mt. Emei that is easy to miss on a conventional sightseeing visit.

Discover the Traditions Behind the Trails

The journey does not end with the hike. After exploring the mountain on foot, spend time in Luomu Ancient Town and discover traditions rooted in the same landscape — from Emei martial arts to the local medicinal plants found in the surrounding hills.

Train with an inheritor of Emei Kung Fu and later follow your master into the mountains to identify plants such as He Shou Wu, Huang Jing, Smilax and Mugwort, with seasonal gathering where conditions allow.
