A High-altitude Summit Experience Near Gongga Mountain

Located deep in the Yajiageng region of Kangding, Langkazhi Xin is a remote alpine viewpoint on the northeastern side of Gongga Mountain. Rising to 4,800 meters, the summit offers one of the most dramatic high-altitude viewpoints in Western Sichuan.

A Beginner-friendly Technical Snow Mountain Challenge

With approximately 800 meters of elevation gain and sections of rocky alpine terrain, this route provides an exciting challenge for hikers looking to experience their first high-altitude summit adventure. Basic outdoor experience and good fitness are recommended.

Day 1 — Chengdu • Ya’an • Kangding / Laoyulin / Moxi

Distance / Time: Approx. 4.5–5 hrs driving
Altitude: Chengdu 520 m → 2,560 m
Accommodation: Local hotel

Depart from Chengdu and travel toward Kangding through the mountains of Western Sichuan. Stop at Ya’an Tianquan Service Area before continuing toward the accommodation area near the trekking starting point.

Arrive in the evening, rest and prepare for the early morning alpine summit challenge.

Day 2 — Kangding • Yajiageng Pass • Langkazhi Xin Summit • Chengdu

Distance / Time: Approx. 7 km trekking
Altitude: 2,560 m → 4,800 m → Chengdu 520 m
Accommodation: Not Included

Start early and transfer to the trekking starting point at Yajiageng Pass. Begin the ascent through alpine meadows and rhododendron forests before entering rocky high-altitude terrain.

The final section includes steeper slopes and fixed ropes to assist with the climb. Reach the 4,800-meter summit and enjoy panoramic views of Gongga Mountain peaks, including Tianhaizi Mountain, Baihaizi Mountain, and Yamu Snow Mountain.

After spending time at the summit, descend safely with the trekking guide and return to Chengdu in the evening.
