From traditional teahouses and mountain roads to Tibetan regions, hidden valleys, and everyday local life, I enjoy helping travelers experience a more authentic and immersive side of Western China.”

Into the Wild Landscapes of Western Sichuan

Travel through one of China’s most ecologically diverse regions, where bamboo forests, alpine valleys, Tibetan highlands, and remote mountain ecosystems stretch across the edge of the eastern Tibetan Plateau.

Panda Forests & Conservation Landscapes

Visit protected panda habitats surrounded by dense bamboo forests and mountain landscapes while learning about long-term conservation efforts helping preserve one of the world’s most iconic species.

Wildlife Tracking in Remote Nature Reserves

Explore protected mountain ecosystems with opportunities to search for golden snub-nosed monkeys, wild takins, Tibetan macaques, blue sheep, Himalayan marmots, and other wildlife rarely seen on standard China tours.

Jiuzhaigou & Alpine Mountain Landscapes

Discover turquoise alpine lakes, waterfalls, forest valleys, limestone terraces, and high-altitude grasslands in some of western China’s most visually dramatic national parks and UNESCO-listed landscapes.

Expedition-Style Travel Beyond Major Tourist Routes

Designed as a nature-focused expedition rather than a fast-paced sightseeing tour, this journey emphasizes slow travel, remote environments, wildlife encounters, and deeper immersion into the landscapes of western China.

Day 1 — Arrival in Chengdu

Arrive in Chengdu and settle into Sichuan’s relaxed capital city before the expedition begins.

Depending on arrival time, enjoy a gentle introduction to western China’s mountain environments through local parks, bamboo landscapes, or traditional teahouse culture.

Day 2 — Pandas & Qingcheng Mountain

Visit the Dujiangyan Panda Base surrounded by bamboo forests and mountain scenery, with the option to join a panda volunteer experience.

Continue to Qingcheng Mountain for forest hiking, Taoist landscapes, mist-covered trails, and subtropical mountain ecosystems where Tibetan macaques are sometimes spotted in the surrounding forests.

Day 3 — Into Wild Sichuan

Leave the larger cities behind and travel deeper into the mountain landscapes of northern Sichuan toward Tangjiahe Nature Reserve.

As the roads climb higher into remote valleys and protected forests, the journey begins to shift fully into expedition-style travel and wildlife-focused exploration.

Day 4–5 — Wildlife Tracking in Tangjiahe

Spend two days exploring one of China’s most important mountain wildlife reserves alongside local naturalist guides familiar with the region’s ecosystems and animal activity patterns.

Search for wild takins, golden snub-nosed monkeys, Tibetan macaques, blue sheep, and other mountain wildlife while walking through old-growth forests, alpine valleys, and remote mountain terrain ideal for nature photography.

Day 6 — Toward Jiuzhaigou

Continue through highland valleys and Tibetan mountain regions toward Jiuzhaigou National Park, passing through landscapes shaped by forests, rivers, grasslands, and traditional mountain communities.

The journey itself becomes part of the experience, with changing elevations and increasingly dramatic alpine scenery along the route.

Day 7–8 — Jiuzhaigou & Huanglong

Explore the alpine lakes, waterfalls, colorful forests, limestone terraces, and mountain valleys of Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong — two of western China’s most iconic natural landscapes.

Walk through high-altitude meadows and Tibetan-influenced mountain regions where Himalayan marmots, yaks, and occasional alpine wildlife sightings are common throughout the open grasslands.

Day 9 — Departure

Transfer to the airport with guide assistance as the expedition comes to an end.

Depart western Sichuan with a deeper experience of China’s wildlife, mountain ecosystems, and remote natural landscapes rarely seen on conventional journeys.
